Dr. Anthony A. Teate is a tenured Professor in the School of Integrated Sciences located in the College of Integrated Science and Engineering at James Madison University, where he is also the Director of the Data Science and Applied Machine Learning Laboratory. His current areas of research include the development and application of machine learning models for the design of the optical, electrical and quantum transport properties of nanoscale materials. He also studies modeling and simulation of nanoscale semiconducting systems using tight-binding approaches; amorphous semiconductors and stochastic processes. His research applications include photovoltaics for solar-hydrogen production; small scale autonomous vehicles; image recognition; embedded machine learning algorithms in IoT devices using multi-layer perceptron models, and mobile application development.

Dr. Teate teaches calculus-based physics, machine learning with python, scikit-learn and TensorFlow, computer programming, database and data science courses. He founded and owns Neosentials, Inc., a local software business, and has a vested interest in impacting the community with technology-based business spin-offs.
