Jennifer Doleac is an Assistant Professor of Public Policy and Economics at the University of Virginia’s Batten School, and Director of the Justice Tech Lab. Professor Doleac is also a Nonresident Fellow in Economic Studies at the Brookings Institution, a faculty affiliate of the University of Chicago Crime Lab and the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities at Notre Dame, as well as a member of the Poverty, Employment, and Self-Sufficiency Network coordinated by the Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin.
Professor Doleac studies the economics of crime and discrimination, with a particular focus on how technology and surveillance affect public safety. Past and current work addresses topics such as DNA databases, gun violence, prisoner re-entry, and the unintended consequences of “ban the box” policies.
